Galaxy nails

This nail art design is the galaxy look.
It might look difficult for people who don't know the technique, but in reality it is very easy if you have a steady hand and enough time to get it right.

So read on and i will explain how to create this design.

Starting of, here is a picture of the things you'll need to create this look:

From left:
- Essie "on in all" base, top and strengthening coat.
- Essie "midnight cami" dark blue polish.
- O.p.i "Alpine snow" white polish.
- Sally Hansen "Black out" black polish.
- Sally Hansen "Mellow yellow" yellow polish.
- Gosh "Bubble gum" pink polish.
- Dotting tool. A toothpick can be a great substitute.
- small pieces of a sponge.
- A pair of tweezers to hold the sponge pieces.
- Paper.

The brands are of course not important, as long as the colors seem right.

First step:
(Remember to put on a basecoat to protect your nails.)
Using your black polish, paint all the nails solid.

Step two:
Put some white polish on to a piece of paper. Take a small piece of a sponge and dip it in white polish. Here it's optional to use the tweezers if that is easier to hold the sponge with.

Dab a pit of the polish on to the paper. If you don't do this there might be to much polish on the sponge and it won't create the desired effect on the nails.

Now dab the sponge on the nails to create the first bit of the galaxies. Make small curves to get some dimension to the picture. Make more than one if there's room on the nail.

Step three:
Do everything from step two again, but this time using yellow polish. Dab the polish onto the white on your nails.

Step four:
Do step two and three again, but this time with the pink polish. In this step it important not to use very much pink if the color is as solid as the one i used was. Dab a little bit on at first to make sure it doesn't cover to much, as the pink is only something that will help create dimension, and not a color that should shine as much through as the yellow.
As you can see on the picture to the left, the color is there but only to help the picture pop a bit.

Step five:
This part is optional as. Using the dark blue color dab it around the edges of your galaxies to blend them more into the background.
I think this step depends on how you like it. If it's not very visible i don't think it's important, but if the blue is not too dark and therefore visible a thing it will give a great look on the nails.

Step six:
Using your dotting tool or toothpick. Dip it into the white polish and create different size stars around your galaxies. To create the different sizes use a light or harder pressure with the dotting tool or toothpick. And with that you just need a to coat to seal your design in, and your done.

Here is an older attempt of the galaxy nails with a different approach to the design.

Here is used a lighter blue to create the base of the galaxy, instead of using a white.
Then i used the white and wore the yellow over it so it wouldn't mix with the blue.
And I didn't use pink.

Hope this was helpful <3
