EvoL "Get up" MV review

EvoL is a five member girl group, who debuted in 2012 with their song "We are a bit different". In March 2013 they made a comeback with the song "Get up" a very laid back, hip hop feeling, groovy song that catches the attention of the listeners.
EvoL doesn't seem to be a group with that much attention on them, and that is a shame. They have potential to be great, with good voices that differ from each other and songs with great beats.

Starting from the singing. EvoL has some great vocals! What I am most stunned by is the rap parts. There is a deep almost male sounding voice coming from a member, and right next to her is a sweet, almost cute rapper. They are so far apart in their sounds that it makes it so different that it's enjoyable. It's nice to hear so clear and define differences in a group, instead of it all sounding alike. This is what makes a group great. The fact that they are all needed for their own voice and talent.
But also is the member with the cute voice able to make her voice rough and more, well, "gangstar" like, witch gives the sound a nice twist. This, once again, shows their skills in singing.
The high notes is well sung and creates a well though of space between the rough and deep rapping from the more lady like singing. And i'm calling the singing ladylike, not cute (though i said it before) because this group has a talent of singing light but with an edge of more woman that girl. This makes EvoL stand out from the rest of the k-pop world, as a lot of girl groups has a tendency to be cute and use to much agyo (cute poses). EvoL's voices seem more womanly than cute, and that is a big plus. This womanly side seems to come from the fact that they do sing in high tones from time to time, but they end the words or sentences of with a lower tone than what the rest of their lines was or vibrates their voices a bit. This makes it more edgy and seem more mature.
They have a short pause in the end of the song saying: "Shh, we are EvoL" making it sound like they are saying "evil". That is a nice tough, and I somehow thik that the whispering of the sentence sound really nice, and suits the whole song very much.

Talking about the video. It is very simple, with backgrounds that chances color, and some with cool effects that makes it seem more up beat, even though it isn't. It's a song that floats in the middle of being up beat and slow. It's a medium beat song...
The girls move and dance very well to the beat, as they, in the start, move a little and it doesn't seem to really be a part of the dance routine. They just move along with the beat, and the listener somehow do the same. They move with the claps and beat of the song and pause every time there have been a clap or beat. This is really nice as it seem a bit like stop motion.  And the video start of with the members not being lit as it's only possible to see the silhouettes of them, while the background shifts with every frame. This is a great intro to the song, as it hasn't been done that much (of my own knowledge) and somehow catches the viewers attention. It somehow makes the viewer unconsciously wan't to know who they are.
Later in the video the members are shown all sitting in a red chair. Here all members have something on them that is red. It could be a red hat, nails, lips or hair, but something is red and that connects the members with the chair, which seems rather royal looking. This could be a very subtle way of saying that the EvoL members belong in that chair and therefore they are "royal". Or it could just be a red chair while they are all wearing red. What do i know? But it is still a nice touch and a great way to incorporate the items in the video, to make them seem more well though of and not being just a random chair.
They also have a whole set only in red together with their clothes. Red does seem like a very "fiery" and confident color. This might have been chosen to illustrate the confidence and passion in the members. Either way it's well thought of and all the sets on the MV doesn't seem out of place from the others. They are all sets that is obviously not real places and when they all are like this then it looks great. There is no weird real looking place that takes the feel away from the whole video.

Moving on to their style. All the members are dressed in something a little daring, but not all in a sexy way. Some of it is leather, giving that sexy feel to it, and bringing out the womanly side again but also that rock-ish feel. There is also a use of baggy clothes giving a feel of hip hop and roughness. These two themes of clothes fit well together as both themes are sort of mixed together. One member is not only wearing a rock chick look, but is also sporting some hip hop in between. There is a use of high heels but also big boots, again giving a contrast to the girls making it seem like they are ladies, but they are also damn capable of working hard. It's a nice tough.
One member uses a dress. A rather nice and cute one too, but the use of a head band, some ruffled hair and a pair of black leather high heels, makes the dress seem more hardcore than sweet. There have really been put in some work to make the girls get the complete right look, and they succeeded very much.

So what do you think about the music video? Watch and let me know <3
